   The Friends of the Viking Ship, NFP (also herein referred to as "FOVS") is concerned about the protection of the privacy of its online visitors, members and supporters. We believe that online privacy is important and are committed to implementing reasonable measures to protect and maintain your privacy. As a matter of policy, we will not sell or rent any of your personal information to third parties without your explicit consent.
   To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

The Information We Collect
   This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the FOVS website. Our website will only collect personal information that you knowingly and voluntarily provide, for example, by making donations, making requests, completing forms, or ordering products.
   The types of personal information collected on our website may include name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Personal information provided regarding your areas of interest will allow us to provide materials to meet your particular needs. FOVS may use that information to provide targeted communications.
   The FOVS's website does collect some anonymous "non-personally identifiable" aggregate information automatically when pages on our website are requested through a web browser. This information is used for statistical purposes and to help monitor how visitors navigate our site, so that we may analyze visitor interest. The information aggregated will not include any personal information as it relates to a single visitor.
   Our website will not collect or maintain information from those actually known to be under the age of 13.

Collection of Information by Third Party Sites
   Some of our website pages may contain links to other sites whose practices may be different than those of FOVS. We are not responsible for the information distributed or collected by these other websites.
   One of these sites is PayPal. When you use PayPal to pay dues, make a contribution, or make a purchase, you will be taken to the PayPal website. PayPal employs its own security methods as described in it privacy policy:

How the Information is Used

   Contact information you provide may be used to send you e-mails, newsletters, or other communications, if you have subscribed to receive this information or you have not advised us that you do not wish to receive such communications. Donations or payments using credit card numbers are currently processed through your PayPal account. FOVS does not see your credit card information on its website. FOVS will not share your personal information with any individual, business, government entity or outside parties except: (1) where you request FOVS to do so; (2) to provide products or services you've requested through us; (3) in response to a validly-issued subpoena, court order, or other legal process; or (4) when necessary to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal action.

Our Commitment to Data Security
   We have instituted procedural and technical safeguards to protect your personal information. These safeguards include firewalls. We treat data as an asset that must be protected. While we protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only FOVS officers or committee members needing the information to perform a specific job (for example, the mailing of newsletters) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

The purpose of “Friends of the Viking Ship, N.F.P.” (FOVS) is: to facilitate the preservation of the 1893 Viking Ship as an important artifact from the Columbian Exposition, and to advocate its public display in a permanent museum setting with adequate security and climate control. To accomplish this goal, FOVS will raise funds for its protection and preservation, and for interpretation of its history. FOVS will also seek appropriate partners who share our mission of securing an optimal long-term home.
