June 30, 1893Crew member Rasmussen summarizes the day’s events: "At 6:00 A.M. on June 30, we passed the forty-sixth lock. Now we had sixty miles left to Buffalo. Along the way, we passed several towns; Syracuse was the largest. We arrived there at 6:00 P.M. and were greeted with salutes by a large crowd, so dense that when we went ashore, it was difficult to get through. We were invited to a banquet in one of the finest hotels. We arrived there at 7:00 and spent a wonderful evening."
